This isn't much of a post, just to note that I rocked it with 2 goals off of crosses making it 2-0 and getting serious street credit from my coworkers.

Dealing with Death
I haven't put out a blog post for a while. Most of the reason was that I wasn't sure of the utility of this medium, but I guess it is also a good place for me to express ideas of my own that probably nobody will ever read.
My father passed away on October 11th and since then, it has been a whirlwind of family, my fathers, friends, cleaning his home for company, figuring out how to pay his bills, and dealing with a myriad of emotions.
That being said, I have definitely come out on top, thanks to an amazing group of friends who have totally been there through everything. Despite what has happened, I feel confident to come out stronger than ever. My dad's humor is definitely not going away any time soon as I am filled with puns and "dad jokes".
The other end of things is I have started to feel very energetic in terms of productivity. Maybe its cause I dont really sleep anymore, but aside from seriously upping my soccer skills at work, I have been writing a lot of political ideas down and been thinking through a number of issues that are rarely discussed in the circles I have frequented. I am also much more in appreciation for people that work long term in working class jobs and still act as militants.
anyway. enough of a rant for the day. cheers.

Ian Chinich is back in NJ, but missing Los Angeles
After being back in New Jersey for a while now, I thought it was important to give an update on what I have been up to. My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in early march and I felt that it was important to drop out of school, quit my job and move back to be with him. I know that in a previous blog post, Ian Chinich on Social Media or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Los Angeles, I talked about all the good friends I was making and the way that the working class culture of the city was starting to warm on me. However, readjusting to NJ has given me a similar feeling.
It wasn't easy to reconnect with people after working so much and dealing with a lot of stressful family situations, but its finally happening and I feel really happy. Also some of the political folks from NJ/NYC have really good heads on their shoulders and we have been meeting up and having really useful discussions on a variety of topics that I have been thinking about.
Work has been interesting. I play soccer every day with my coworkers and its been a huge boost, both to getting back into shape, but also into the comradery at work:
Also have a lot of student loans I have to pay off, so money is shaky... but Im getting there!

Best Metal Songs: My Epic Playlist
To play it on youtube: Ian Chinich: Best Metal Song Playlist
So I finally created a metal playlist to rival other metal playlists. This is still a work in progress but enjoy what I have so far. I am trying to only play one song for each band to add variety and for a slight challenge. If you disagree or think Im missing something, leave a comment and I may add it.
